MEDIA BRIEFING: TODAY 11:30 AM
Project Leader Cornel de Ronde of GNS Science will announce results of his team’s just-completed survey of Lake Rotomahana.
The international project used underwater robots to explore the lake bed, searching for hydrothermal vents and any surviving remains of the famed Pink and White Terraces, which were destroyed in the 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera.
Two representatives of the Te Arawa Lakes Trust will also attend the briefing.
**Please note, this joint GNS/SMC briefing will be held at the Science Media Centre in Wellington. Reporters in other regions can join us by teleconference and log-in to view the presentation online.**
Those wishing to schedule an interview following the briefing, please contact John Callan, Communications Manager, GNS Science on 027-440-2571
