3 News: Chocolate for young, wrinkle-free skin

A Swiss chocolatier has developed a chocolate, full of antioxidants, which it says can fight ageing and help prevent wrinkles.

Some experts, however, have doubts as to the efficacy of the chocolates on skin health.

“Links between dark chocolate and health benefits such as lower blood pressure and reduced risk of strokes have already been suggested, due to a high content of antioxidants, or flavanols.

“”The possible effects on skin and cognitive performance are less well established. There is evidence, but it is much less consistent. It may be that the effect on the blood flow is also what improves memory or skin health in some of the studies,” Hurrell said.”
