Fatal shark attack on popular beach near Auckland

Great white sharkDetails are still emerging of a fatal shark attack at Muriwai beach west of Auckland.

One person was killed and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are reported to have discharged a firearm multiple times during the rescue attempt.

The beach has been closed until further notice.
